Durango Family Winter Adventure     Colorado / Dec. 19-23, 2008

The Polar Express with conductors who sing and dance…the charming town of Durango decked out in all its Christmas finest…a private tour through Mesa Verde’s Spruce Tree House with a National Park Ranger…all this and more when you join us for our Durango Pre-Holiday Family Trip.

The Polar Express comes to life when the train departs the Durango depot for a journey to the  “North Pole”. Enjoy hot chocolate and nougat while listening and reading along with the magical story.  Meet Santa Claus and his reindeer  - he will board the Polar Express, greet each child and give them their own sleigh bell.  Join in Christmas carols on the return trip.

This family offering takes us to Durango Mountain Resort, a Colorado location with an array of events and activities sure to please skiers of all ages. A winter paradise in the heart of the San Juan Mountain Range, Durango Mountain Resort is the

perfect family destination known for its unmatched scenery, events and activities ranging from easy going to rugged adventure, and a town that offers a little slice of history. Durango’s Purgatory Ski Resort has terraced terrain and is perfect for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.  The mountain features two terrain parks and a children's specific play area.

We will be staying at the Tamarron Lodge, which offers just about everything you'll need on your visit to the Rockies. Take in the majestic views of the Hermosa Cliffs while perusing a variety of shops and restaurants and participating in resort activities: skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, cross country or tubing – even find Santa on the slopes! The kids will love the indoor pool so be sure to pack the suits!  Tamarron Village is the center of your trip, as well as a great place to relax, or watch the evening alpenglow over the Needles Peaks.

On the slopes you’ll find over half of Purgatory Mountain’s terrain is for intermediate skiers, with exhilarating roller-coaster trails as well as gentle terrain with wide trails through trees.  Advanced skiers will find challenging terrain on the back of the mountain, and the beginners’ area is served by its own lifts.

Downtown Durango, a 1/2-hour ride from Purgatory Village, is a National Historic District packed with shops, top southwestern art and galleries and a selection of restaurants sure to please everyone’s palate.

How could a family trip at holiday-time get any better than this?

We hope you’ll join us for this pre-holiday joyful adventure with your family and with other friends from the Gang.
