Golf Prince Edward Island     Canada / September 8-18, 2009

Over the Hill Gang is pleased to offer a whole new experience in a true golfer’s paradise that rivals the very best. A gentle giant of an island, Prince Edward Island, or PEI, has been named Canada’s #1 Golf Destination 4 times since 2000. In 2007, the Toronto Sun rated PEI as the “#1 Island Golf Travel Destination in North America,” besting such places as Hilton Head and Hawaii.

The home of the famed Anne of Green Gables stories, PEI has that special feeling of being paradise with a down home feeling most people yearn for. Look around and you see a natural beauty of green pastures, farmers’ fields, open spaces, sandy beaches, protective sand dunes, captivating red rock cliffs and inspiring views of wonderful golf courses, which appear to lie gently on the land. It is a grand place to relax and enjoy yourself, quite unlike most other golf destinations.

After arriving in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and a bus journey north across the massive 13-kilometer long Confederation Bridge, we will arrive at Cavendish and the Kindred Spirits Inn. This wonderful Inn is next door to the legendary Green Gables House (which we will tour) and the Dalvay-by-the-Sea National Historic Site, and across the street from the PEI National Park, with its long beaches and red cliffs. While here we will play three great golf courses.

We start with two Golf Digest 4–star courses. Glasgow Hills GC has sensational views of the River Clyde and the Gulf of St. Lawrence. We will follow that round with a renown PEI Lobster Supper. Next is Mill River GC. This mature forest course has wide rolling fairways and numerous lakes and streams. We will stop after the game for dinner on your own at a famous seaside oyster and seafood café. Eagles Glenn GC has been named one of Canada’s Top 10 new courses, with fairways in the pines and majestic views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Moving on, we head to PEI’s capital city, Charlottetown, for the rest of our stay. On our lay day, we will take a harbor/whale–watching cruise. There will also be time for shopping and sightseeing.

Then it is back to golf at Dundarave GC, Fox Meadow GC (both 4-star layouts and listed in Canada’s Top 100) and Crowbush Cove GC, a  spell-binding 4.5-star course rated the #6 course in Canada. All provide superb golf in three different scenic settings. Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson recently played Crowbush where Jack commented, “PEI is one of Canada's most beautiful golf destinations.”

PEI offers everyone, golfer and non-golfer alike, new experiences, new sights and new adventures. The golf is world-class in a beautiful tucked–away corner of the Canadian Maritimes Provinces. Dennis Beasley, OTHGI’s former Director, calls

PEI “one of my truly memorable golf experiences. Throw in superb seafood, good wine and very friendly people and you have a unforgettable trip.” Come see for yourself.
