Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort     Idaho / Feb. 1-8, 2009

It feels like your own private mountain.  There is certainly plenty of room – 2900 beautiful acres spread over two distinct bowls in the rugged Selkirk Mountains of northern Idaho.  Stand at the top and gaze at three mountain ranges, three states and Canada.  One thing you won’t see are lift lines.  Time and space are definitely on your side at Schweitzer! We are excited to offer this new trip for our members to experience this pristine ski resort in the Lake Pend Oreille region of northern Idaho.

Schweitzer Mountain is a full service resort that not only offers awesome skiing but a truly amazing number of other activities including: dog-sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snow tubing, Solstice Center of the Healing Arts Spa and much more.  All the activities are coordinated on site through the Mountain Activity Center in Schweitzer Village.

Our group will be staying at the Selkirk Lodge, which offers comfy, slopeside accommodations with a European flair. Most rooms come equipped with wet bar, microwave and refrigerator. The Selkirk Lodge also offers easy access to the outdoor heated pool and three hot tubs with the most stunning mountain views imaginable.  Both the Mojo Coyote Café and award-winning Chimney Rock Grill are located on the plaza level of the lodge, so you don’t even have to put on a jacket to enjoy great dining.

This trip originates in Spokane, Washington, with a luxury motor-coach ride from the airport directly to Schweitzer Mountain Resort. After settling into your spacious room, a hearty welcome dinner awaits.  During dinner, you will be given an orientation from a member of the Schweitzer staff as well as your OTHGI host.

After a full breakfast buffet the next morning, you will start the day off on the slopes with resort guides who will assist you in becoming comfortable with all the mountain has to offer. When the first great  day of skiing ends, you will be the guest of Schweitzer Mountain Resort at a wine and cheese reception where once again a staff member will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

We have a wonderful week planned with incredible skiing, great food, two trips to the quaint village of Sandpoint (located on the shores of Lake Pend Oreille), and much, much more.  We hope you join us for this not-to-be-missed trip!
