Ski Winter Park   Colorado / March 1-8, 2009

Nestled against the western slope of the Continental Divide, the town Winter Park, at an elevation of 9,100 feet, is the highest incorporated

municipality in Colorado.  No wonder they have the most consistent snowfall year after year!

The Winter Park Resort is Colorado’s longest continuously operating ski resort featuring over 3,000 skiable acres of award-winning terrain including groomers, terrain parks, bumps, steeps, trees and most definitely deeps – average snowfall is 336 inches with 365 inches recorded in 2008!  Ideally located just 67 miles northwest of Denver, Winter Park is easily accessible via private car, shuttle express or the Ski Train, which departs daily from Denver’s Union Station.

Your home away from home for the week is a true Colorado landmark. The AAA three diamond Vintage Hotel (newly remodeled) has been voted one of the “Best 50 Ski Resort Hotels” by Conde Nast Travelers.  The Vintage offers the warm coziness of a classic alpine retreat with fine amenities including on-site ski shop and ski lockers, fine dining, microbrewery, and even a library where you can relax in front of the fire with a favorite book or board game.

The Vintage’s prime location, only 1/3 mile from Winter Park Resort, will be greatly enhanced this year by the brand new gondola system that runs from the parking area at the hotel to the village base for convenient access to skiing, shopping and dining.

A welcome dinner, hosted by your professionally-trained OTHGI trip host, will give you an opportunity to meet your fellow skiers and go over the agenda for the week, which includes a guided first day on the slopes, group dinners, hospitality hours and activities.

A highlight of the week will be an outing to Devil’s Thumb Ranch for dinner. Devil’s Thumb Ranch is 5,000 acres located at the foot of the Continental Divide. The Ranch was started as a homestead in the 1930’s and has operated as a vacation property since 1946. Many of the original buildings are still being used today.  Our dinner will take place in the Timber House, which features 150-year-old hand-hewn beams and an incredible 240-degree view of the scenic Ranch Creek Valley and Continental Divide.  Gracious dining in such a rustically elegant environment promises to be a memorable evening.

We hope you will join us for a week of fantastic skiing in the easy, convenient, small town atmosphere of Winter Park. You’ll see why Winter Park boasts itself as “Colorado’s Favorite Ski Resort”.
