SWITZERLAND, DAVOS AND GRINDELWALD / Jan 5-20, 2013 CALL
Come join us for a return to the heart of some of the most famous Swiss ski resorts!
Grindelwald for the 83rd Annual Lauberhorn Ski Race.
Davos for the beauty of the Graubunden region before the crowds arrive!
One of the queens of European skiing, Grindelwald has everything that members dream about in European skiing - a classic and authentic Alpine village with great little cafes for mulled wine and strudel, a huge ski area, superb restaurants for schnitzel or bratwurst, a beautiful spired church, horse-drawn sleighs, chalet roofs packed with snow...this is the charm that resort designers in the New World try to emulate, only this is the real thing!
Grindelwald sits at the start of an enormous ski circus, a series of interconnected ski areas and runs that goes on forever! From the center of the circus in Grund, you take the train up to the pass at Kleine Scheidegg, and then start skiing 14 km to Wengen and take the gondola back up or ski 15 km back to Grindelwald. In either case you can ski all day, never take the same lift, never use the same run, and ski to or through several other villages, using excellent lift facilities that cater to intermediates and superb off-piste and expert terrain. You can also take the highest train in Europe which tunnels through the north face of the Eiger mountain to the top of the Jungfrau peak.
Davos takes us into the Graubunden region and some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in Switzerland. Once a cure town filled with sanitariums and the famous "Magic Mountain" of literary fame, Davos is now a large bustling ski town, with one of the longest ski trails in the Alps, the 12-mile Parsenn run down to Kublis. With over 229 miles of downhill runs through the ski area, you can cruise to small villages and to the town of Klosters and then return by ski train to Davos. Our lodging in Davos is at the beautiful Sunstar Parkhotel Davos, with a ski-in run behind the hotel to use at the end of the day. The Parkhotel has many facilities set in parkland in a quiet yet central location. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, in Europe's highest town. The large dining room with its impressive panoramic windows offers fantastic views and is a bright and cheerful place for breakfast or a romantic setting for dinner. The spacious, comfortable bedrooms are really cozy, with solid wood furniture. The Wellness Oasis is the ideal place to rest and relax, with its big swimming pool, log cabin sauna and massage showers. There is a wide range of sports facilities at the Sunstar Parkhotel Davos, from the fitness centre to aqua-gymnastics and aerobics. There is also a games room with table-tennis and table football, available for use by young and old, or you could watch an exciting film in the hotel's own cinema. In Grindelwald we stay at the 4-star Sunstar, with a terrific central yet quiet location with beautiful unspoilt panoramic views of the famous North Face of the Eiger, the Wetterhorn and First. The spacious and stylish lobby area with an open fireplace and the gentle sound of the piano are bound to help you relax, inviting you to spend evenings there. From the light and airy "Ambiance"restaurant, you can enjoy beautiful mountain views at breakfast, while in the evening the atmosphere is suitably romantic. Gourmets can sample delicacies from the kitchen and wine cellar in the elegant surroundings of the à la carte restaurant, the "Adlerstube." The large and comfortable bedrooms, furnished with light wood furniture, create a cozy feeling of well-being. The Wellness Oasis, with its large swimming pool, log cabin sauna, Roman baths with 4 climate zones and massage showers, is the perfect place to relax and feel great. There is a particularly wide range of sports available at the Sunstar Hotel Grindelwald, ranging from the fitness centre to aqua-gymnastics and aerobics. And to end our stay in Grindelwald, we get a taste of the world-famous Lauberhorn Ski Race with all its festivities and the tradition of a nearly century-old ski competition. We end with a last night in Zurich just off the Bahnhofstrasse at the lovely 4-star hotel Glockenhof. UTAH SAMPLER, UT / Feb 3-10, 2013 Guaranteed Departure
This trip is a big seller every season, and it is easy to understand why. It's a simple way to enjoy superb skiing and a great stay in a vibrant and fascinating city. Our bus meets us at our doorstep every morning, and drops us off each afternoon. We'll stay in a wonderful hotel, within walking distance of Temple Square, great restaurants, entertainment, and culture. Upon arrival, using the complimentary hotel shuttle, an easy 15-minute ride from the airport finds you at the Embassy Suites in downtown Salt Lake City. Each suite has a living room, refrigerator, microwave, and a separate bedroom. With a full breakfast each morning and happy hour each evening, it's the perfect spot to socialize with our fellow members. Yet it is only 30-45 minutes from "The Greatest Snow on earth," as they like to say in Utah. We'll ski these resorts:
- Park City: Superb skiing with the option to ski a little and shop a little on the historic Main Street in this old mining town.
- Snowbird: legendary skiing terrain, incredible snow and amazing resort amenities to keep everyone smiling
- Powder Mountain: Snow purists prefer this resort, where only genuine, fallen-from-the-sky Utah powder graces the steep slopes and gold medal terrain.
- Brighton: Few crowds, wonderful views, and super snow at the end of the canyon. Skiing the way it ought to be.
- Deer Valley: nestled at the edge of Park City and limiting the number of lift tickets sold on any day, Deer Valley is everyone's dream of uncrowded skiing in Utah and is regularly requested as a must-do for this trip.

LAKE TAHOE SAMPLER, CA / Feb 10-17, 2013 Guaranteed Departure
Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America and has long been celebrated for its clarity and the outstanding beauty of the surrounding mountain, which are home to more than a dozen ski resorts and ski areas.
This year's adventure will find us sampling three of those resorts: Heavenly, Kirkwood, and the world-famous Squaw Valley.
Heavenly is considered Tahoe's premier ski resort. Spanning the California Nevada borders, Heavenly is the largest bi-state ski resort in the USA. Few resorts match Heavenly's superior scenic beauty and vast network of lifts, trails and terrain. Bright sunny days, over 360" of snowfall annually, unparalleled natural beauty and 4,800 acres of varied terrain--now that's heaven on earth.
Just a short 45-minute drive south but worlds away from the glitz of Lake Tahoe is the local's favorite, Kirkwood Mountain Resort. One of the largest of the area resorts, Kirkwood sits in a natural basin with a base elevation of 7,800--the highest resort in the area. Because of this altitude, Kirkwood also receives the highest annual average snowfall--generally above 500 feet! You're sure to enjoy this special "secret" place.
The symbolic Tower of Nations and the Olympic flame from the 1960 games greet visitors as they arrive at Squaw Valley. Built in 1949 and reminiscent of a European ski village, Squaw Valley remains one of the most favorite ski destinations for visitors from around the globe. With over 4,000 acres of skiable terrain and one of the most advanced lift systems in the USA, Squaw Valley has positioned itself on the A-list of "big mountains" in North America.
Our deluxe accommodations will be at Harrah's in South Lake Tahoe, located near the base of Heavenly's gondola.

TELLURIDE, CO / Feb 17-24, 2013 CALL
Nestled among the highest concentration of 14,000 foot peaks in North America, this former silver mining town on the San Miguel River in western Colorado's San Juan Mountains is rugged, beautiful, and isolated. Founded in 1878 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Telluride has successfully balanced an infrastructure created for tourism with respect for preserving a fascinating western culture. Telluride is one of those rare, special places and for that reason was chosen as the destination for our President's Day Week trip this year.
Our bed and breakfast, The Aspen Street Inn (formerly the San Sophia Bed and Breakfast) is just one block from the gondola, and we'll have opportunities to socialize on this trip with seven hospitality hours. Behind Telluride's turn-of-the-century facade, resides the cosmopolitan soul of a world-class resort blending historic buildings with luxury hotels, five-star restaurants, quaint cafes, sophisticated shops, and some of the finest spas in the world. Along with skiing at one of the Top 10 resorts in North America, this trip will afford you plenty of time to get to know your fellow OTHGI skiers. You already know the skiing will be fantastic - why else would Ski Magazine list Telluride in the Top 10? What you might not know are a few fun facts:
- The town of Telluride and its counterpart, Mountain Village, are connected via North America's first free gondola system.
- Telluride has no chain restaurants or shops.
- The nearest stoplight is 45 miles away.
- Once called the "City of Lights," Telluride was the first city in the world to have electric streetlights powered by the world's first alternating current power plant.
- Butch Cassidy robbed his first bank in Telluride in June 1889.
Telluride is more than world-class skiing, soaring mountains, and western heritage -- it is also a state of mind. Connect... Recharge... Relax. This trip has it all!

KEYSTONE, CO / Mar 10-17, 2013 CALL
More than 300 Over the Hill Gang members live in Summit County. When you ski with them, they tell you, with a wink, they don't worry about going to heaven - they are already there.
Dubbed Colorado's Playground, Summit County draws 3.4 million skiers each year, more than the entire state of Utah. It boasts 4 world class ski areas - Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, and Arapahoe Basin (A-Basin) - all within easy driving distance of Denver International Airport, and minutes from each other. Add in the old, but rejuvenating, mining towns of Breckenridge and Frisco, and you can see why one-third of all skier visits in Colorado are in Summit County. And why it is a popular place to live for Over the Hill Gang members.
You'll be meeting some of the friendly OTHGI members when they guide our skiers over the trails at Keystone, Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain. Add in the skiing at A-Basin, and there's no question that you're in heaven. We provide the transportation from Keystone to Breckenridge and A-Basin and heaven provides the snow.
Our lodging at the Inn at Keystone is located in the center of Keystone Resort, 300 yards from Keystone Mountain. The Inn is a six-story hotel offering spectacular views of the ski area, the surrounding peaks, and the protected wetlands. Rooms are large and comfortable, and the hot tubs on the roof offer the best soaking views going. A daily hot breakfast along with daily hospitality hours and three dinners mean there's no excuse for going it alone - the camaraderie of OTHGI members is legendary!
A day of blissful skiing with guides at A-Basin followed by a day each at Breckenridge and Keystone leaves you two days during the week to choose your favorite to try again.
